RAA Acting Grad: Theresa Edem

RAA Acting Grad: Theresa Edem

Royal Arts Academy alumna Theresa Edem is an Akwa Ibom born actress, model, voice over artist, writer and filmmaker. She has always harbored an interest in the performing arts from a very young age and upon gaining a degree in Animal Science and Technology from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, decided to follow her passion to pursue acting professionally by enrolling in Royal Arts Academy.

Theresa’s career has been on a roll right after graduating top of her class in RAA. She played her first major role in the Royal Arts Academy production “After The Proposal”. Following that, she featured in several stage plays, TV films and radio dramas, including, MTV’s Shuga Radio. Her big break came in 2014, when she was asked to play “Angela Dede” on M-Net Tinsel.

Following her success on Tinsel, Theresa has gone on to portray several major characters in films and TV series, the most notable of these being, “Princess Ama” in Ayamma, “Isioma” on Hotel Majestic and “Rita” in This Thing Called Marriage. In addition to that, she has starred in several Africa Magic Original Films (AMOFs) such as While We Worked Things Out, alongside Chris Attoh and Bakers Daughter, alongside Deyemi Okanlawon.

She has written several short stories and screenplays, some of which she has developed into short films. Her first short film, “Grey Area” was released in 2014. She has since produced another film, “We”, which was directed by Yemi Morafa (Filmboy).

Theresa also models for big brands. She starred in one of Jumia’s first TV adverts and was recently named the face of Miss Fashion Week Africa.

In her own words during a recent chat, she describes her experience at Royal Arts Academy “I’d say my learning experience with Royal Arts Academy was amazing. I came to Lagos a young lady with big dreams and no idea how to go about it; Royal Arts Academy gave me a concrete foundation for my career and helped show me the way to achieve my dreams. I can’t fail to say that the Royal Arts Academy produced film Ayamma has given my acting career wings to fly. God bless the day I decided to leave Uyo for Lagos to attend Royal Arts Academy. They turned my talent to a skill!!

Theresa Edem is definitely a super star and we are most certainly proud of her progress!
